<div>Hey guys lets list names of restaurants you have worked for that yu want to warn others of. Or types of restaurants to avoid. My worst experience was with corporate restuarants that make you work in 3 to 4 table sections makin maximum profits while you make minimal tips. Hmmm, like The Olive Garden all you can eat lunch soup and salads. This of course was about 10 years ago when it was 4.95 and they had thin soup bowls that were shallow to make it look like more. So you would pour the soup and by the time you make it 30 seconds to the table it would be cold. And then they would tell you only 3 breadsticks for a party of 2. So everytime you go to the table you would have to run and get more breadsticks. Meanwhile the cook is bein told to only cook so much of them at a time. So guess what, empty bread warmers and fights over breadsticks with other waiters. All this for my 15% tip of $.75 if I was lucky. Oh yes and lets not forget they would make me take large tables with no grats at this time with seperate checks and shared with another waiter! BS. I am suppose to work for free? I sure don't work for them anymore. Now all the plates are a minimum of 7 dollars and up.When I go there to eat I tip way over the minimum. I do love their soup and salad. <div>Lets say you work in a restaurant and you average making 15% of your sales, that would mean that for every sack of crap that thinks 10% or less is an appropriate tip some other customer is tipping 20% or more to evening things out. If everyone tipped 10% or less then the restuarant would have to pay more to keep a server staff and then charge more to make that money. But like I said that is not what is happening, good tippers are accually paying for bad tipppers to eat out. The argument that greedy big restuarant chaines use in the lobbying for this is that menu price increases bring bigger check totals and therefor bigger tip totals and thats where we get our raises. Bullshit, most restuarant chains have increase the number of people a server has to tip out. It started with the busboy, then the bartender, then the hostess, and now the salad bar person or line expiditor extera...exetera. I started as a bus boy but made my way through hard work extra work and all ways covering shifts when needed and all ways being on time eventually they made me a server with good sales and great reviews anyways Im babbling so one day they needed someone to do "To go" which as a server was not my responsibility nor something I had been trained for. I did cause I thought this was kind of thing that would get me better sections and less lunch shifts. Well I forgot to put plastic ware in someones order and this guy decided to make a BIIIIG deal out of it even coming in the next day to yell at the assistant G.M. (steve) while he was dbl parked he got towed which made it even worse. So to appease this asshole I got Fired by steve. I looked at him and said that I was the hardest worker in the whole place which he could'nt deny he just said "Sometimes hard work is'nt enough" <br/>Steve is a BIg BIG golf fan so I waited a couple weeks and found a saturday when Tiger Woods was'nt playing anywhere and I called the hostess and convinced her I was tigers manager and we would be coming in around 9 p.m. that night with a party of 8. Steve leaves at 6 every saturday so I knew he would stay late for "Tiger" I then made flyers and put stacks of them at the homeless sheltters near the resteraunt that said <br/> <br/>"Legal Seafoods Night of compassion free food for the homeless 8:30 p.m." <br/> <br/>so a half an hour before they were expecting Tiger here comes the Hobo Parade!!!! they gave them all Clam Chowder and bread and sodas "To Go" and tiger never showed. We would constantly be on a long wait everynight of the week mid 1-2 hour wait thurs,fri,sat 21/2 to 3 hours so when the lobby was crammed with people standing around drinking and I had time I woould cruise through that area and hope to make eye contact with a "good" party they might say something and I'd talk to them for a second and the subject of the wait would come up if not by them casually by me theyd say something like "Is the wait really going to be 2 hours?" and I would reply, "whats youre pager number? Ill see what I can do." then go up to the host stand and say "hey, pager 38 can you send them to table 86? itss opening up in a second. having tipped them they usually had no problem hooking me up.
